Buyer's Guide

Find the safe that matches your needs.

Senator inSitu - Safe Selector

Don't know anything about safes? Let the buyer's guide support you to find the safe that fits to your needs.

What do you want to protect?
Cash ? This includes safes, cabinets, vaults & vault doors, designed to withstand physical attacks in different strengths or Grades. Each Grade represents a particular “cash rating” which is the amount an insurer will cover.
Documents ? To survive a fire, documents require protection from temperatures higher than 177°C. Therefore, cabinets must be specifically designed, tested and then certified for this task. Without a credible certification, you cannot be sure that your documents are safe.
Data media ? Just like for documents, the same is valid for data media, except here the cabinet must offer much greater protection due to the sensitivity of the material. If the inside of the cabinet exceeds a mere 55°C, then the information on a CD, DVD or tape will be destroyed.
Collectables ? Choose this criteria if you’re looking for a safe storage to securely store collectables like stamp albums, coins, watches, etc. that require a respective fire protection.
Jewellery ? This includes safes, cabinets, vaults & vault doors, designed to withstand physical attacks in different strengths or Grades. Each Grade represents a particular “valuables rating” which is the amount an insurer will cover.
Other valuables ? Choose this criteria if you would like to protect other valuables, like business-critical products such as pharmaceutical products that need to be securely locked away or valuables that may require a higher storage capacity.
Next question
What do you want to protect it from?

How much capacity does your safe need to have?
Large (≥ 150 litres) ? The preferred choice for items that need a higher storage capacity, like business valuables that need to be protected overnight, larger amounts of cash or business critical documents kept in binders.
Medium (>50 to ≤150 litres) ? The preferred choice for medium-sized valuables like cash, collectables, valuable items of a certain size
Small (≤ 50 litres) ? The preferred choice for smaller, personal valuable items, like jewellery, passports, private documents, etc.
Back
How do you prefer to lock your safe?
Combination Lock ? A mechanical keyless dial lock with a changeable combination
Electronic Lock ? An electronically operated keypad lock with a changeable combination
Key Lock ? A manual key-operated lock
Back Next question
Which certification level or grade should your safe have?
Ungraded ? Choose this parameter if your safe needs to provide an elementary burglary protection.
Level S1 or S2 ? Level S1 and S2 are certifications for safes and cabinets for burglary protection according to EN 11450. Insurance amounts vary from country to country from 500 to 20,000 EUR for cash or valuables. In some countries an additional protection with an intruder alarm system is a prerequisite for obtaining a certain insurance value.
Grade 0 to VI ? Grade 0 to VI are certifications for safes, cabinets and vaults for burglary protection according to EN 1143-1 or EN 1143-2. Insurance amounts vary from country to country from 2,000 to around 1.2 million EUR for cash or valuables. In some countries an additional protection with an intruder alarm system is a prerequisite for obtaining a certain insurance value.
Grade VII to XIII ? Grade VII to XIII are certifications for safes, cabinets and vaults for burglary protection according to EN 1143-1. Insurance amounts vary from country to country from 500,000 to many million EUR for cash or valuables. In some countries an additional protection with an intruder alarm system or a protection against attacks with explosives are a prerequisite for obtaining a certain insurance value.

For how many minutes would you need protection from fire?
30 ? The temperature at which data media (e.g. 52°C) and documents (e.g. 177°C) deteriorate differs according to the item protected. 30 minutes corresponds to a basic fire protection.
60 ? The temperature at which data media (e.g. 52°C) and documents (e.g. 177°C) deteriorate differs according to the item protected. 60 minutes corresponds to a good fire protection.
